Each year the Tony Jacklin CBE Charity Belfry Invitational brings together some of the biggest names from the world of sport and entertainment to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and 2018 was no different.
Taking place at the Belfry Hotel & Resort, the setting of one of Tony’s most famous Ryder Cup achievements, the award-winning venue was the perfect backdrop for the event.
Hosted on 24 September 2018, 25 teams took part on the day tackling the prestigious course in what was a wonderful golfing occasion. The purpose of the event was to raise vital funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, a hospice that cares for youngsters who are suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and, as a patron for the charity, it is a cause that is particularly close to Tony’s heart.
Some of the stars who were in attendance in the day included: British athletics legend, Kriss Akabusi MBE, pop star, Gareth Gates, former England rugby star, Austin Healey and television presenter, Jenni Falconer.
Once the day’s play concluded, guests were treated to a Champagne reception, three-course meal and entertainment in the form of Gareth Gates who performed sensationally. The evening was also hosted by Olympic legend, Derek Redmond.
A whole host of regional businesses sponsored the event including: Farmfoods, Liberty, Champions (UK) plc, Bentley Leicester, Champions Events, The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Visit Barbados, Lamborghini, Maxi Low, Alea Nottingham, Bionical, Inspirational Birmingham, Champions After Dinner Speakers, M2K Services, West Midlands Safari Leisure Park and Palmers.
